Things have been a bit crazy, and, unfortunately, here we are again/still – back to virtual travel.
Several years ago, I found myself in Milan for work just a few weeks before Christmas.

My hotel was within a couple blocks of the Duomo, so there were opportunities to take pictures at various times of day. I was also back at that hotel a couple more times for the same project, so I ended up with a lot of pictures of the Duomo.
During that late November trip, our meetings ended one afternoon while there was still time to go to the top of the Duomo. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. It was absolutely stunning, particularly with the afternoon sun at that time of year.
I have been using the picture below as the wallpaper on my laptop ever since.

What about the food, you ask? I will admit, Milanese cuisine is not my favorite type of food in Italy. It does not help that I am not a big fan of fried food, and veal Milanese is, after all, a fried breaded veal cutlet. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of excellent food in Milan. And, as it happens, truffles are abundant in the late fall/early winter. If you are a fan of truffles, there is nothing quite like being in a place where they offer to shave truffles on pretty much everything for a mere 5 euros.
One of my favorite ways to eat truffles is simply on buttered pasta, such as a tagliolini. As far as I am concerned, you do not want anything competing with the truffles, so I stick to fresh pasta cooked al dente, with lots of butter, and shaved truffles. It’s entirely possible I ate a few truffles on that trip.
